Due to safety concerns relating to the total solar eclipse, all King and Queen County Public Schools (students and staff) will release at 1:00pm on Monday, April 8, 2024.
The eclipse will begin around 2:00pm and will reach its maximum magnitude around 3:20pm. Because looking at the intense light from the sun, even for just a few seconds, can cause permanent damage to the retina, we are closing school early on April 8 at 1:00pm for students and staff. Our students and staff will be home for the totality of the solar eclipse for King and Queen where viewing can be controlled.
