September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, regular attendance is essential for students gaining the academic and social skills they need to thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school and graduate from high school.
Please do your best to get your children to school each day, unless they are sick, and be sure to notify your school's secretary if they are going to be absent.

🌟📚 September is Attendance Awareness Month! Research shows that consistent school attendance fuels academic success. Missing even two days per month can lead to learning gaps. Regular attendance prepares students for the professional world and supports overall health and well-being. Parents and students, let's prioritize attendance for a brighter future! 🌟🎓

Special thanks to the K&Q Family C.A.R.E. (Community. Assistance. Resources. Empowerment.) Center—located at 4460 E Lewis B Puller Mem Hwy in Shacklefords and operated by Thrive VA—for donating 30 backpacks, pencil pouches, packs of colored pencils, and earbuds to Central High School. We are so grateful to have such strong community partnerships!

Good Afternoon King and Queen Community!
We wanted to share that transportation is working very hard to make sure students are on the correct routes as well as making other adjustments to routes in order to be as efficient as possible. During this time, if you are tracking information through the Viafy app, you may not see any route information or you may potentially see different route information as these changes are taking place.
Bus drivers will continue to reach out to share pick up times and other important route information. If you have not heard from a bus driver please contact your student's school and they will forward that information to our Transportation Coordinator.
Thank you for the patience as we make these transportation adjustments.
Have a great night.

Good afternoon,
As a gentle reminder, KQPS schools will be introducing metal detectors this year to enhance the safety of our students and staff. Starting tomorrow, Central High School will implement this system. To ensure a seamless process, here are some key points to be aware of:
When students arrive at the school entrances, they will need to form single-file lines to proceed through the metal detectors. Staff will inspect bags (with compartments unzipped), and students should place personal items (including keys, wallets, coins, phones, watches, smart watches, electronics) in provided bins.
Students should proceed slowly through the metal detector when directed by staff. If the alarm does not sound, they should collect their things and proceed to class. If the alarm sounds, they will need to empty their pockets of any additional items and will be scanned by a hand-held metal detector.
Kindly speak with your students tonight and tomorrow morning, reinforcing the importance of refraining from bringing prohibited items to school. Your support contributes greatly to our collective safety efforts.

Hello King and Queen Community,
King and Queen School Board welcomes ALL Back to School!
