This summer, rising 5th-12th graders are able to participate in special classes in lieu of a traditional summer school setting. These projects will be offered in two (2) sessions occurring Monday-Thursday of each week. 

All KQPS students who will be in 5th-12th grade during the 2023-2024 school year are eligible to participate in these projects. Students may participate in one or both sessions.

*Availability is limited. This form is to request a spot in projects, but your spot is not guaranteed. Requests will be assessed on a "first come, first served" basis. Parents will be contacted after the request window is closed.

Culinary (with Ms. Cassie)

Overview:

Culinary with Ms. Cassie! Join me in reading recipes, enjoying tasting cuisines, and getting messy in the kitchen. All meals are simple, yet delicious and easy enough to re-create in your home kitchen. We will entice our taste buds with new flavors and textures while exploring the history of each dish. If you are passionate about food and enjoy trying new things, please join me this summer for Culinary With Ms. Cassie and let's get cooking!

Overview:

Looking for a fun and engaging way to keep your child active and healthy during the summer break? Look no further than King and Queen’s Summer Sports Program! In our program, students will not only have the chance to participate in a variety of sports, but will also learn about the specific skills, rules, and strategies for each one. Your child will have the opportunity to develop their athletic skills and teamwork abilities while also making new friends and having a blast. So, whether your child is a seasoned athlete or just looking to try something new, our Summer Sports Program is the perfect way to spend their summer days!

K&Q Unplugged (with Ms. Vick or Ms. Johnson)

Overview:

In our fast-paced, tech-connected world, it is important to occasionally unplug and meaningfully connect to our planet, ourselves, and those around us. In "KQ Unplugged", students will do just that: they will participate in container gardening, movement-based activities including kickball and yoga, and quieter activities such as board gaming with friends. Within the bounds of KQ Unplugged's structured activities, students will also have space to be mindful and creative. We would love to have your student participate in this fun and engaging summer program!

Down on the Farm (with Mr. Sloan)

Offerings:

Overview:

Spend three weeks at Sonshine Farms with us and experience all the joys of farm life in an amazing summer program. From feeding the animals to planting crops, you'll get to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty as you learn about agriculture in a hands-on way.

But that's not all - you'll also get to flex your carpentry skills! Under expert guidance, you'll learn how to build and repair structures around the farm using real-life carpentry tools and techniques. Who knows, maybe you'll even discover a hidden talent for woodworking!

And when you're not busy working and learning, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and make new friends.  So what are you waiting for? Come join us for three weeks of fun, learning, and adventure at Sonshine Farm!

Violin Vibes (with Ms. Hopley)

Overview:

Looking for an exciting way to explore your child's musical talents? King and Queen’s Summer Music Program is the perfect opportunity! This year, we're offering a special program in which students will learn to play the violin. Students will learn the techniques of playing the violin, note reading, and the basics of performance. By the end of the program, your child will have a solid foundation in playing the violin and be ready to take their skills to the next level. Don't miss this opportunity to ignite your child's passion for music and sign up now for our Summer Music Program! Overview:

Join us for an exciting summer of team building activities! Our program is designed to help students build their teamwork skills in a fun and engaging way. From sports to board games, students will participate in a wide range of activities that emphasize collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.

Students will participate in various team challenges which will help them develop the skills they need to be effective team players. Through this program, students will learn how to work with others, build trust, and communicate effectively - all valuable skills that will serve them well in school, work, and life.
