Zoe is an absolute rockstar and a vital part of the CHS athletic family. Not only does she handle the incredibly important (and tough!) job of keeping the books and tracking matches for our Wrestling team, but she is also a leader on our Cheer squad! 🎀🤼♂️
Here is what her Coach had to say about her:
"Spirited and fun-loving, she brings positive energy to every practice and game. She is willing to put in the hard work as a base in stunts and leads with confidence. Huge congratulations to our King and Queen Wrestling Team for their outstanding performance this past weekend! Our athletes stepped onto the mat with determination and heart at a massive tournament featuring many much larger schools.
Despite the tough competition, our boys proved they belong on the big stage. Even with only 6 of the 14 weight classes filled, the team fought their way to a 13th-place finish out of 23 schools, racking up an impressive 58.5 team points.
Congratulation to our competitors Deonte Pollard, JayDen Anderson, and Elijah Lewis. A special shout-out to our individual place-winners who led the charge:

After much feedback from the student body, the CHS Winter Dance is now an Activity night. 7th and 8th grade are still 6-8pm and can play basketball (with proper shoes), dance, craft and more and 9-12th can do the same. It is still $10 to raise additional funds for prom. Come out and have some fun!

Some athletes lead with words, but Robert Haston leads with action.
According to his coach, Robert is the “epitome of showing up and doing your job.” Whether it’s a rainy Monday or a late-night practice, Robert never misses a day and always gives 100% of what he has. 💯
We’ve loved watching his dedication on the court this winter, and we can’t wait to see that same drive out on the field this spring!

The CHS Staff Member of the Month for December is Amber Duncan. Ms. Duncan is our AdviseVA Pathways Adviser. She expertly assists our students in finding their path to the future through completing college and scholarship applications and any searching for career oriented workplace certifications and technical schools and maneuvering through job applications to discover their career path. In addition to directing students through finding these awesome opportunities, she also plays a pivotal role working with our student government supporting their many school spirit activities. We are very fortunate to have her here at CHS!

For four years, Shynice has been a powerhouse in Track & Field, competing in the Long Jump, 100m, 200m, and 400m. She has qualified for Regionals the last three years and made it to States for the first time last year!
Coach Carter is in awe of Shynice's growth, noting that she "works really hard to be her best" and serves as a great mentor to her peers at practices and meets.
As the team heads out to compete today, let's wish them luck! We can't wait to see you shine, Shynice!
