Best Practices

Room Occupancy Sensors

Throughout the division, most lights in classroom, offices, cafeterias and gymnasiums are controlled by occupancy sensors which save energy by automatically turning off lights when the areas are unoccupied by students or staff.

HVAC Automation System

King and Queen County Public Schools uses automation software that is installed in all the schools throughout the division. This software automatically shifts the heating & air-conditioning (HVAC) systems to setback temperatures at night, weekends and holidays to conserve energy.
