King and Queen County Public Schools Reopening Plan for 2020-2021 School Year
King and Queen County Public Schools Reopening Plan for 2020-2021
"King and Queen County Public School Board approved a Reopening Plan for the 2020-2021 school year on July 15, 2020. King and Queen Public Schools (KQPS) schools will begin the 2020-2021 school year on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. This later start date provides additional time for the staff to prepare for instruction through a hybrid in person and remote learning model. It also ensures buildings are outfitted with the necessary items to support a safe and healthy learning environment.
Students in grades PK-7 will follow an AA/BB schedule. Students in Group A will receive instruction on-site Monday and Tuesday and work remotely from home Wednesday through Friday. Students in Group B will work remotely from home Monday through Wednesday and receive instruction on-site Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays will be utilized for cleaning procedures, teacher planning and professional development.
Students in grades 8-12 will follow an A/B/C schedule. Grade 8 will attend on A days; grades 10 and 12 will attend on B days and Grades 9 and 11 will attend on C days. Student schedules will be based on a 7-period day for the 2020-2021 school year. Teachers will utilize non-instructional time to provide remediation, plan for remote learning and participate in professional development.
Any siblings throughout the division will be on-site the same days, regardless of which schools they attend. Students will be required to wear masks on the bus and in the building when 6’ distancing cannot be maintained. The division will request a variance to have students sit one per seat and will maintain physical distancing on routes with fewer students.
Families can select a virtual-only learning option if they would prefer. Families must have internet access or the means to access through other options such as driving to an area with open WiFi access. More detailed information is forthcoming in reference to class schedules, transportation and virtual learning options. Information will be posted to the division website and Facebook pages as well as mailed to all families."
Thank you all for your support,
Dr. Carter

Virginia Living names CHS a Top Schools and Colleges for 2020
April issue of Virginia Living has a section on State of Education, titled Top Schools and Colleges 2020. They state, " We recognize more than 160 schools - including public and private colleges and universities, private high schools, private K-8 schools, public school systems, and special needs schools - for their achievements, programs, and outstanding curriculum. After a thorough review of more than 400 schools across the Commonwealth, Virginia Living's editors selected those with programs aimed at strengthening student's experiences in the classroom, in the field, and in their communities. From getting their hands dirty in gardens, greenhouses, and wildlife preserves to using cutting-edge technology in robotics clubs and makerspaces, Virginia students are diving into learning."
