Dr. Alexis C. Swanson
    Assistant Superintendent of Instruction
     Dr. Swanson’s career has taken her through 13 years of teaching and school administration.  Prior to coming to King and Queen County Public Schools, she taught elementary school as a special educator for several years and served as an elementary and middle school assistant principal and as a high school principal for York County School Division. Dr. Swanson obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Master of Arts degree in Education with an emphasis in Special Education, and Doctor of Education degree in Educational Planning, Policy and Leadership from the prestigious College of William and Mary.  Dr. Swanson serves as the ministry head for the Chosen Generation Teen Ministry at Kingdom Life Christian Church located in Williamsburg, Virginia.  She is also a member of the praise and worship ministry.  Dr. Swanson’s ultimate goal in her leadership role in education is to develop, shape, enhance, and implement sound practices which ensure equal educational opportunities for all students. Her overall vision is to be an educator whose leadership inspires excellence and provokes social changes within the educational community.   Dr. Swanson and her husband Rodney are the proud parents of one son, Rodney Jr. and have one grandson.
