• LMES Principal

    Greetings LMES Tiger community,

I hope that you and your loved ones have had an enjoyable summer and that you are staying safe.  As the new principal at Lawson-Marriott, I am excited to join the Tiger family and am honored to serve the students of King and Queen County!

While I have only been at LMES for two months, I already know that this school has an incredible faculty and staff who care about our children and work hard to ensure that students get the support they need to be successful.  The past few months, teachers have been participating in professional development to hone their in-person and online teaching skills.  The exceptionality of this team is further evidenced by Lawson-Marriott’s recent recognition with the Virginia Department of Education’s Highest Achievement Award, which was given to only 71 schools in the entire state!

Over the summer, school staff have been planning, cleaning, and preparing for the upcoming school year.  I realize that our transition back to school will be an anxious time for many.  Please be assured that our top priority is to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for your children.  KQPS has designed—and will implement—safety protocols that meet or exceed those put forth by the Centers for Disease Control and the Virginia Department of Health.  Prior to students’ return, all faculty and staff will be thoroughly trained in safety procedures to help mitigate infection.

Look for a letter in mid-August that will contain information on your student’s class and day assignment as well as bus route information.  For safety reasons, we will unfortunately not be having a traditional Back to School Night.  Teachers, however, will be asked to reach out to parents and students in advance of the school year, so expect a phone call or email at some point!  Supply lists for the 2020-2021 school year can be found online at www.kqps.net, at LMES, or at the Tappahannock Wal-Mart.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know.  You can reach me at 804-769-3116 or email me at rwright@kqps.net.  For now, enjoy your summer; I look forward to getting to know you and your students in September!

    Sincerely,

    Rob Wright
