    Greetings LMES Families!

I hope everyone is having a fun-filled summer and enjoying time with family and friends.  I am excited to join LMES and the King and Queen community, and have been working hard this summer to prepare for the return of our teachers and students.

My professional journey to LMES includes 14 years of teaching and counseling at  the elementary, middle and high school levels and 3 years as an assistant principal at the primary and middle school levels.   I received my undergraduate degree from East Carolina University in elementary education, my Master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Counselor Education, and my Post-Master’s Certificate from George Washington University in Educational Leadership.

I am pleased to announce that LMES is once again fully accredited by the State of Virginia Department of Education. Thank you to the teachers and families for supporting our students and allowing them to be successful.

As we look to the 2018-2019 school year, I would like to welcome several new teachers to our LMES family:

    Sara Binns- 5th grade

    Andrea Hardy- VPI

    Cressandra Layne- 5th grade

    Shannon Waters- 6th/7th Language Arts

    Virginia Young- SPED

    Jamie Lantz- Music

We are lucky to have each of you join our team.

As summer comes to a close, please mark your calendars for our Back to School Events.  We invite our PK and K families to come out to LMES on August 28th from 5:30-7:30 for our first “K Camp” Experience.  Students will go for a bus ride, walk through the cafeteria lunch line, meet their teacher, and more!  Back to School Nights for our returning students are as follows:

August 29th (1st-4th Grades) 5:30-7:30 pm (Program will begin in the cafeteria)

August 30th (5th-7th Grades) 5:30-7:30 pm (Program will begin in the cafeteria)

*Class rosters will be posted on the bulletin board next to the library.

The supply lists for each grade can be found on the https://kqps.net website under the LMES tab and at local Walmart stores. Students are encouraged to bring their supplies (properly labeled) on Back to School Night.

I am a firm believer that, given the necessary supports and resources, every child can experience success.  I plan to assist the LMES teachers as they provide your child with the tools needed to support them on their educational journey.  I am looking forward to a magnificent year as we work together to build strong relationships and encourage our children to be lifelong learners!  If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call at 804-769-3116 or email me at jperry@kqps.net.   GO TIGERS!!
